Dear Friends – Islams world war against the Jews and Israel is an existential threat to our survival. It is here and now!

We can understand and appreciate the hesitancy of our Haredi Gedolim to integrate דעת תורה with the Zionist enterprise. But now due to the war and the risk to our soldiers lives, we the Jewish people must drive Jewish consensus about the rules of war.  Our Gedolim must not exclude or excuse themselves from this obligation. This is a matter of פיקוח נפש.

It is not coincidental that we are on the verge of a war with Iran just days before Purim.

אסתר ד׳:י״ג–י״ד

וַיֹּאמֶר מָרְדֳּכַי לְהָשִׁיב אֶל־אֶסְתֵּר:
אַל־תְּדַמִּי בְנַפְשֵׁךְ לְהִמָּלֵט בֵּית־הַמֶּלֶךְ מִכָּל־הַיְּהוּדִים.
כִּי אִם־הַחֲרֵשׁ תַּחֲרִישִׁי בָּעֵת הַזֹּאת רֶוַח וְהַצָּלָה יַעֲמוֹד לַיְּהוּדִים מִמָּקוֹם אַחֵר, וְאַתְּ וּבֵית־אָבִיךְ תֹּאבֵדוּ;
וּמִי יוֹדֵעַ אִם־לְעֵת כָּזֹאת הִגַּעַתְּ לַמַּלְכוּת.

אסתר ד׳:ט״ו–ט״ז

וַתֹּאמֶר אֶסְתֵּר לְהָשִׁיב אֶל־מָרְדֳּכָי:
לֵךְ כְּנוֹס אֶת־כָּל־הַיְּהוּדִים הַנִּמְצְאִים בְּשׁוּשָׁן, וְצוּמוּ עָלַי, וְאַל־תֹּאכְלוּ וְאַל־תִּשְׁתּוּ שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים לַיְלָה וָיוֹם;
גַּם־אֲנִי וְנַעֲרֹתַי אָצוּם כֵּן, וּבְכֵן אָבוֹא אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־כַדָּת;
וְכַאֲשֶׁר אָבַדְתִּי אָבָדְתִּי

Due to the extremely dangerous circumstances the Jewish people face at this time I plan to extend my Taanit Esther fast to two days and two nights this year. I will add a fast from Saturday night until Monday sunrise and then continue with the normal Taanit Esther fast on Monday until sundown. Following doctor instructions I will drink water until Monday sunrise. I encourage other Jews to do the same.

Dear fellow Jews. Wake Up. We are in great danger and need G-D’s salvation.
